He met Miss Shirley Lee Wrenn in the spring of 1942; and they married in 1944.  Over the next several years they would have six children: Joma, Andrew, Thomas, Wesley, Andrea and Bradley.

Over the years we have developed amazing relationships with people through doing business on our farm. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that our family, friends, and customers trust our products which are better for you, better for the animals, and better for the land and world we all share.  We are committed to raising the best farm products available.  We love raising our animals in an environmentally friendly way and promoting sustainable agriculture.  Together we will be sustaining agriculture in Northern Virginia; this is an amazing feat in itself.
Our pricing & value...
USDA approved butcher, aging, cuts you choose, vacuum packed, and delivered to your home. Not only are our prices better than commercial beef but our values are too, because we don't take shortcuts. No cruelty, no antibiotics, no hormones...no shortcuts.  It takes more time and expense to do it our way.  But it's better for you, better for the animals, and better for the land and world we all share.
All our animals are humanely raised and handled...
We have set strict standards of care that detail every aspect of our operation when is comes to raising cattle, chicken, pork, and turkeys -from health to handling to holding facilities.

No animal by-products...
Our all-natural meat(s) are healthier for you, tastes fresher and have a lot more flavor. Our customers agree: the difference in taste is significant. There is no worry with Mad Cow (BSE) disease, because we do not feed animal bi-products plus all our beef is under 24 month of age which makes for better flavor and tenderness.

We would like to thank everyone that has helped us along the way; it definitely has been worth every bit of sacrifice.
Though it takes more time and expense to raise quality grass-fed meat(s) our way, it is a better product and value to our customers and friends.  If you buy from Smith Family Farm, you will allow us to continue that tradition of meeting quality people and making new friends. We want you to feel secure in knowing that you are eating all natural grass-fed meat(s) that comes from our home to yours.— Smith Family Farm in Gainesville, Virginia.
Virginia Quality- Assured Angus Beef Producer
Andrew Smith, Sr., known by most as “Buster”, was born on the family farm on 1919 to Andrew Smith and Mary Fletcher.  He was the oldest of eight children.  At an early age he was instilled with a strong work ethic, working both on the farm and at his father’s saw mill which used to be part of the farm.

Buster purchased the family farm in 1962.  Farming remained a cherished passion throughout his life, which he passed onto many of his family.  Upon nearing retirement, Andrew, Shirley and youngest son Brad moved back to the farm in 1979 where he remained a gentleman farmer until quietly passing away on 2000 at the house in which he was born.
